This is another trait common to God-bearers or Jesus-types–it isn’t that God has preordained them to serve a special function. They have simply developed their ability and willingness to respond to the Divine Presence to a degree that enables them to be particularly supportive of God’s purposes and humanity’s advancement.
Again, it is not that God has uniquely called them, for God calls each of us to the work of spiritual sensitivity and human growth. What differentiates God-bearers from the rest of us is the degree of response.
Their affirmation of God is every bit as dynamic and complete as God’s affirmation of them. They are God-bearers not because God has determined, long before their births, that they would serve that role. They are God-bearers because they permitted themselves to be enlivened by the Divine Presence to a degree most of us have not.
