03013 – Our Obsession with Being Right

Our obsession with being right in our eschatological and theological arguments is an idolatrous impediment to sharing the gospel (which is meant as good news for all people in the here and now).

The fear-induced pressure for us to somehow “save” people from a sufferable and tormenting afterlife–by making sure their belief system matches our own–inevitably expunges the compassion that compels us to be the hands and heart of Jesus in the present.

The kingdom of God is not a far away destination, it is here. The spirit of the living God is not up in the sky somewhere; it is within us.

The salvation and restoration of humanity is not something we pray for Jesus to come back “some day soon” to address; He says it can begin now. We can choose to cultivate a culture of life for us and all others ..now.
