03177 – The Prize: Our Life Together

Love erases the line between giving and receiving. When love is present, we are all just sharing; there are no haves, there are no have nots, just people who need one another.

The foolish distinction between who is giving and who is receiving, between who has much and who has little, between who is generous and who is needy disappears. Actually, it does more than disappear, it apologizes for ever having appeared.

And in the same way East blends into West and West into East, in the same way laughter flows into tears and tears into laughter, so our care for one another leaves none of us claiming the position of origin, or the upper hand, or the better part.

We come, little by little, to understand our CARING FOR one another is actually our SHARING WITH one another. Love makes all of us the recipients, the winners. No one needs an award. Our life together is the prize, the more than sufficient gift, the gift only a community can receive.
