Sometimes those who have been in the church for a long time can adopt a joyless spirit… These people…become blind to the good things around them. …Instead, they obsess over bad things and want everyone else to…obsess with them.

This kind of complaining, joyless spirit is deadly and can kill both a church and the heart of a follower of Christ.

The antidote to a complaining spirit is the discipline of noticing. We need to learn how to pay attention, to slow down and see what God has done and is doing all around us. Then we need to declare and celebrate where God is at work.
