The New Testament offers a wealth of images of God. God is not only like a forgiving father, but also like a mother hen longing for her straying offspring and a woman searching until she finds one lost coin. God in Christ is Lady Wisdom, divine Word, the Light of the world, the Door to eternal life, the Bread of life.

Just as we cannot capture God in one person, even so we cannot capture God in one image. To think and speak of God in masculine images alone is unbiblical and idolatrous. The diversity of biblical metaphors points to God not made by human hands or minds.
